Our Coaches

We employ an enthusiastic team of highly qualified coaches, across our pool locations. Each location is led by a head coach who sets direction and program for that site’s squads.

Rackley’s coaching philosophy is centered on developing a positive club environment and culture. A key role for our coaches is to foster an enjoyable environment where athletes strive to become not only the best athletes they can be but along the way also develop skills that will enable them to be successful people.

Our coaches are focused on the task of giving each and every swimmer in their squad the best possible opportunity to improve their swimming and attain their personal goals. They are always willing to discuss your child’s progress, recognising that discussions on pool deck can distract from the session please contact them via phone or email to organise a suitable time.

Damien Jones, a highly experienced and dedicated swim coach at Rackley Swimming, is passionate about developing swimmers of all ages and abilities. Over the past decade, he has led the growth and success of the Rackley Squad programs. As a coach, he creates a positive and supportive learning environment to help swimmers reach their full potential. Damien has proven success at every level of coaching applying his wealth of knowledge and expertise. He has represented Australia in the 2024 Olympics and has been part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and World Championship teams.

Tim brings a wealth of experience and strategic leadership to Rackley Swimming. A lifelong swimmer and coach, he's been guiding athletes to success since 2006. Tim's passion for swimming and his commitment to developing well-rounded athletes are evident in his coaching philosophy. Tim has a strong track record of growing swim programs. Since joining Rackley at Centenary the program has grown from 350 to over 700 swimmers across 4 pools. In previous roles, he led Clayfield College's swim program for four years and oversaw significant growth at St Rita's College. Tim has been involved in swimming his whole life and started coaching in 2006. Tim was the Head Coach at Clayfield College for 4 years and coached for three at St Rita's/Aqua Rosa Swim Club. During his time at Aqua Rosa, he has helped the club grow from 80 to over 130 club members and more than 200 swimmers in the pool. Tim's coaching ethos is to promote a positive and competitive environment whilst embracing the principles of commitment, respect, individuality, and challenging oneself. Tim offers the current coaching team a different yet complementary set of skills that are valuable for our current crop of athletes and the sustainable future of our club.

Since beginning his coaching career in 2019, Ethan has combined his expertise as a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Exercise Scientist, and Sport Scientist to deliver a holistic, athlete-centred approach to performance. Passionate about para-sport and long-term athlete development, Ethan specialises in guiding swimmers through every stage of their journey, from building foundational skills to competing at State and National levels. Known for his ability to understand the unique needs of each athlete, Ethan creates high-performance environments where swimmers are challenged, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential both in and out of the pool.

Josh Smith is an experienced and dedicated swim coach passionate about helping swimmers reach their full potential. He brings a wealth of local and international coaching experience to Rackley Swimming, having led the Rackley Hibiscus program for five years and coached in Australia and overseas. Josh also successfully placed a swimmer on the 2024 Paris Paralympics team, where Lewis Bishop came home with a Bronze medal. Josh is known for his innovative approach to coaching, having introduced new events like the Denis Cottrell and Halogen Meet series in Queensland. He is committed to developing well-rounded athletes who are skilled in the water and possess strong character and a love for the sport. Josh holds a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies and a Bachelor of Secondary Education from QUT.

Bec leads the coaching program and team at Rackley Colsmlie. Drawing on her own experiences as a world-class athlete, she guides and inspires the next generation. She is a strong advocate for long-term athlete development, emphasising the importance of building a solid foundation and fostering a love for the sport. Rebecca represented Australia at multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games, breaking the world record for the 200m breaststroke in 1994. She inspires young swimmers to reach their full potential by sharing her knowledge and experiences.

Ziggi Jacks is a results-oriented swim coach with a proven track record of improving swimmer performance across all levels. He designs and implements effective training programs, provides personalised feedback, and fosters a positive, results-driven environment. His expertise spans stroke mechanics, endurance training, and athlete motivation, significantly improving technique and competitive results. Ziggi is a Swimming Australia Advanced Coach who constantly strives to exercise the full potential of his swimmers.

With over 25 years of coaching experience, Humberto Angerami brings a wealth of international expertise and passion to Rackley Parkinson. Originally from Brazil, Humberto spent a decade as an Age National Coach, where he developed top-tier junior talent at the national level. He holds a degree in Physical Education and a Master’s in Swimming Training and Exercise Physiology, combining scientific knowledge with practical success. Since moving to Australia, Humberto has continued to make an impact, coaching numerous swimmers to the Australian Age and Open National Championships. His commitment to long-term athlete development and performance excellence makes him a standout leader in the swimming community.

TJ is a Swimming Australia Development Coach currently leading the Junior and Mini Squad programs at the Runcorn Pool. With 15 years of experience as a high-performance athlete and extensive coaching experience in Hong Kong, TJ combines Asian and Australian training methods to provide diversified training for swimmers. This approach helps swimmers achieve their goals and meet their expectations. Several swimmers in TJ's program have qualified for state competitions and represented their school in State teams. Additionally, TJ's learn-to-swim experience ensures that young swimmers start their swimming careers smoothly and without obstacles in the transition from learn-to-swim to Squad swimming.

Ethan is a former competitive swimmer of more than 15 years, with national-level experience in both pool and open water swimming. He has coached across multiple Rackley programs, including at Rackley East Brisbane, as well as school swimming for Loreto College, Churchie, and Lourdes Hill College. In 2025, Ethan graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology, further developing his skills in designing exercise programs for people with a range of chronic health conditions, with a particular focus on neurological rehabilitation. He brings this scientific understanding of movement, performance, and wellbeing into his coaching.

Adam is an advanced-level swim coach with over 7 years of experience developing athletes from grassroots to National levels. As a former national-level swimmer himself, specialising in breaststroke and the medley, Adam brings firsthand competitive experience to his coaching. He holds a Bachelor’s in Exercise and Sport Science (Strength & Conditioning) and is currently completing his Master’s in High Performance Sport. Alongside his work in the pool, Adam is a qualified strength and conditioning coach, having completed high-performance placements with elite organisations including Acceleration Australia, the Wests Tigers (NRL), Sydney United 58 FC, and the Western Sydney Wanderers. Adam’s approach blends technical swim expertise with high-performance physical preparation, helping athletes thrive in and out of the water.

With two decades of experience in swimming — both as a competitive swimmer and a National Coach — David brings valuable expertise and passion to his role. He is an Accredited Swimming Australia Development Coach, demonstrating his dedication to the sport and to the development of his athletes.

Dan joined the Centenary program in 2020, bringing a strong foundation in athlete development and performance. He plays a pivotal role in developing and progressing the Centenary national pathway and Gregory Terrace program. Holding a Double Bachelor’s Degree in Business, majoring in International Finance and Marketing, Dan applies a strategic and analytical approach to coaching. His philosophy centers on technical excellence, long term athlete growth, and fostering a positive, high performance culture. Every session is driven by his professionalism and genuine passion for the sport.

Starting as a Junior Development Coach, Matt has been a coach with Rackley since 2016. In 2019 he completed his Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology and brings his knowledge of physiology to provide effective strength training practices that complement the sport of swimming. Matt now works as a Full-Time Strength and Conditioning and Swimming Coach for the Centenary Squads. Matt is also the Program Lead of the Rackley Swimming St Rita’s program. Matt’s focus lies primarily in reviewing and delivering the Strength and Conditioning Program across all squads, leading the St Rita’s coaching team and development Squad, and assisting in swim coaching across the Junior to Age group squads at Centenary.

Jono joined the Centenary team in January 2023 where he started as the Junior Development Coach with a primary focus on developing the Junior and Bronze Squad programs. Jono has recently completed his Advanced Coaching Accreditation. Having coached at various clubs in Brisbane over the last 4 years, most recently at Anglican Church Grammar School as the Junior Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jono has experience working with athletes from all levels from Learn to Swim through to National Medalists. Jono’s love for swimming and enthusiasm for coaching stems from his involvement in swimming from a young age. He loves seeing individuals grow, learn, and realise their potential and finds great rewards in helping shape young swimmers.

After 16 years as head coach of the Leichhardt squad and club in Sydney, Danae joined Rackley Centenary as the lead Junior coach in 2023. Danae began her swimming journey at a young age, competing at club, State, and National levels, which ignited her love for the sport and laid a strong foundation for her coaching career. Danae has been coaching for over 20 years, working with various age groups ranging from juniors to adults and advanced competitive swimmers. Danae holds a Swimming Australia Advanced Coaching license and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Her approach to coaching emphasises technique, skill, and discipline. She believes in fostering a positive and supportive environment where swimmers can thrive and reach their full potential.

Zoe has spent most of her life in and around water, starting as a Learn to Swim student and squad member at Colmslie in 2010 before commencing a traineeship at the facility in January 2016. Over the years, she has held various leadership roles at Rackley Swimming, including Learn to Swim Instructor, Swim School, and Facility Manager. She is now the Sports Manager supporting Rackley Squad Programs across Queensland. As a Swimming Australia Development Coach, Zoe oversees the Juniors Program (Mini & Junior Squads), coaches the Bronze Squad, and supports the Silver & Gold Squads at Colmslie. Before returning to Colmslie, she spent 18 months with the Centenary Coaching Team at the prestigious St Rita’s College and Brisbane Girls Grammar School, refining her coaching techniques. Zoe is passionate about supporting the swim school team, particularly in developing the Mini Squad and ensuring a smooth transition from Learn to Swim to Squad programs.

With over 20 years in competitive swimming as both an athlete and coach, Kelly brings extensive knowledge and passion to the pool deck. A former Australian Swim Team representative, she now focuses on developing the next generation of swimmers. She has coached athletes to success at state and national level, including National Age Champions, medalists, and Youth Australian Team members. Her philosophy centres on long-term development, technical excellence, and consistency, building strong foundations for future success. With a degree in Psychology, Kelly also prioritises mental wellbeing, weaving mindset strategies into her coaching to support athletes in reaching their full potential.

With a teaching background, he combines his experience as an elite athlete with effective educational approaches to develop swimmers of all abilities. Clyde's passion for swimming drives his dedication to nurturing talent, building confidence, and inspiring the next generation of swimmers to reach their full potential.

Zoe has been involved with swimming her whole life, first as a swimmer, then as a Learn to Swim Teacher and now as State Development Coach holding Advanced Coaching Accreditation, creating a thorough understanding of stroke development from the beginning. With her background in Strength and Conditioning, Zoe has a great understanding of biomechanics, which helps her achieve amazing results with her young swimmers’ techniques and skills. Her passion for swimming is contagious and easy to see through her Squad swimmer’s smiles.

Andrew is the current Master's and Adult Squad coach at Parkinson, Parkinson’s Strength & Conditioning Coach, and a Junior Squad coach at Runcorn. He has been surrounded by swimming his whole life, which has led to his passion for swimming. Andrew also spent his formative years as a competitive swimmer and teaching Learn to Swim. Andrew also has a background in Learn to Swim and is currently working towards his bachelor's in sport and exercise science. Most notably, Andrew has coached Adult Swimmers to the world stage, with multiple swimmers competing for Australia at the World Aquatics Masters Championships, and placing a swimmer on the 2025 Australian Deaflympics team.

Amy began her career in the aquatic industry in 2013 and currently holds an Advanced Coaching Accreditation. She brings extensive experience in competitive coaching, with a strong background in swim school teaching, strength and conditioning, and her tenure at the AIS. This diverse expertise has given her a thorough understanding of biomechanics and the development of swimmers at all stages. Passionate about junior swimmer development, Amy has built a highly successful junior program that has produced Brisbane record holders, multiple State qualifiers, State medallists, and State school team representatives competing at Nationals. She places strong emphasis on character-building and instilling positive habits in young swimmers, setting them up for long-term success. Amy is committed to supporting swimmers throughout their entire swimming journey.

Dixon is a highly qualified and experienced swim coach, holding a Bachelor of Sports Management from Griffith University, and currently studying for a Master's degree in Sports Coaching at the University of Queensland. He's the lead coach of the Hibiscus Bronze Squad, assists with the Gold and Open squads, and also oversees the Loreto College CaSSA swimming program. As a former Hong Kong national representative swimmer, he benefited from training under an Australian Olympic coach, shaping his coaching philosophy to focus on developing well-rounded athletes. Dixon is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
