COVID-19 Update:

Brisbane City Council has advised us today that the Brisbane Aquatic Centres are to be closed. As a result, we will be temporarily closing our squad program at the end of sessions today (23/03/2020). All direct debit will be suspended so you will not be charged squad fees.

This is a big challenge for all in the community and in particular for our dedicated coaches - Rackley Swimming is committed to reopening at the first opportunity and we will keep you informed. Enjoy a well deserved break and look after yourself and your families. We look forward to getting back in the pool and squad training again.

Message from Head Coach Josh Smith :

The Rackley Hibiscus coaching team are excited to provide a professional high quality swimming program to the local community. My coaching philosophy is Fun, Tough and Fast.

Firstly, fun and enjoyment are the drivers of my programming and coaching style, If swimmers are enjoying what they do training doesn’t become a chore. It becomes a pursuit of personal excellence and development. Secondly Toughness is essential in the achieving your best as a swimmer. Our training design and communications with swimmers aim to instil this quality within athletes in our program. Swimmers who are having fun and are tough will become fast. Fast to me means, as fast as that athlete is capable of swimming according to their individual abilities.

In my coaching experience swimming mimics, the ups and downs of life accurately. It is a great preparation for real world where resilience and perseverance are key ingredients to personal success - Happy swimming,

Josh Smith

Club nights are target competitions for specific levels of our swimming club. As swimmers move through squad levels and mature it is clear there become more opportunities for racing. Especially through avenues such as school swimming, states, nationals, open water competitions etc.

Hibuscus offer club nights through term 4 (information coming soon)

Competitions

It is important that we clearly understand the purpose of the competition that we are entering in. It is important that we do not overload our athletes with the number of competitions which they undertake.   Therefore different athletes within different squads will have different target competitions throughout the year.
