Junior Squad is designed for children predominately 6 years and older, and is targeted at swimmers that have completed all the skills associated with learn to swim lessons. Junior Squad’s focus is 1-2 key concepts every session, and swimmers within each individual session will be allocated to the lane & group that provides the optimal learning environment. This optimal learning environment is created through the coaching team encouraging every swimmer to achieve their best and ensuring all swimmers within every individual session are allocated to the appropriate lane & group for that sessions focus (i.e for example if the sessions focus is kicking, swimmers are allocated into appropriate lanes & groups based on their kicking abilities). The coaching team strongly believes that this provides every Junior swimmer attending any Junior session extremely high quality & effectiveness. Junior Squad swimmers are required on a daily basis to meet the behavioural and attitude criteria associated with this level and will be continually assessed. Swimmers must have also met the required technical skills, (these technical skills will be judged at the discretion of the coaching team and will determine the ideal learning environment for every swimmer). The squads’ philosophy is provide an inclusive training environment for all swimmers that meet the required criteria and create the optimal learning environment. Fun & safety is the primary objective of all Junior swimming, coincidentally it is reason we ‘learn to swim’ initially.
Bronze squad is designed for children predominately 10 years and older and is targeted to Junior swimmers that have completed all the associated criteria and have begun to see competing as an integral part of their ‘long term pathway’ within the Rackley Program (an exception to this is if a younger swimmer displays exceptional technical form and motor skills and has achieved the requirements for the squad). Bronze squad’s primary focus is to create an optimal training environment so that every Bronze swimmer attending any Bronze session can achieve their best and enjoy learning. This optimal training environment is created through the coaching team encouraging every swimmer to seek out the coaching staff & their fellow team-mates, whilst applying themselves to the 1-2 key concepts within every session. The coaching team strongly believes that this system provides every Bronze session with extremely high quality & effectiveness. Bronze Swimmers will be required to meet the performance, behavioural and attitude criteria associated with this level and will be continually tested. Bronze swimmers must have also met the required technical skills, (these technical skills will be judged at the discretion of the coaching staff). The squads’ philosophy is to provide an inclusive training environment and to assist all swimmers with achieving their goals both swimming and in life.
